Theatre. Lab. New work. New voices.

Accra Theatre Workshop supports artists at different stages of their careers by providing opportunities for training, experimentation, showcase and performance.

ATW also creates a community of artists who can support each other, forming a forum where artists can receive critical and useful feedback in a supportive environment.

ATW is currently resident at the Nubuke Foundation in East Legon.

The first phase of ATW’s Education program started with the Summer Shakespeare program in 2012. Summer Shakespeare is hosted annually by the Nubuke Foundation in East Legon. It provides young people in Accra with a unique intensive program of Shakespeare appreciation and performance over six weeks.  ATW Education has also conducted short workshops for children at Lincoln Community School (Abelenkpe), Nubuke Foundation, and at the old ATW offices in Tesano.

Production History: Romeo + Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Comedy of Errors

ATW Education currently encompasses free youth arts education programs at the Nubuke Foundation in East Legon.

ATW seeks to present Ghanaian stories in new and interesting ways. ATW puts special emphasis on new work and new voices, and is also open to working with international groups and artists.
